My new station building is nearing completion, so here is the story of the building process.
The station is based on Rakek, photographed from a passing train.
The window and door positions were marked out and cut from styrene sheet.
Window and door patterns were made, moulded and castings done in resin.
The basic structure was assembled before fitting the castings.
Sub roof formers were added to support the tiles.
Attention was then turned to the canopy. This was marked out to fit the building, then the under framing added from plastic strip.
The paving was scribed then glued to the base of the building and door steps added.
After making a simple jig, eight supports were soldered from brass. The circles were cut from brass tubing. The top strip is channel section to locate on the framing.

Rainwater guttering was made from half-round brass.
After cutting to length, each piece was taped down onto a board marked at even intervals and thin soft brass wire was pressed over and soldered to simulate support brackets.
Down pipes were made from brass rod, bent to shape and soldered below the gutters. Brackets to hold them to the walls were also made from thin brass wire.
Basic painting has been done, but some touching up to do, plus a little weathering.
After the addition of a nameboard, chimneys, clock, flower baskets and tubs, bench seats, litter bins, waiting passengers, station staff, lighting, etc. I think it will look something like the station I am copying!

Thanks all. I really enjoyed making it, made a change from trackwork and locomotives.
Now I need to finish the freight shed.
